Blogging Issues

Blogs as current phenomenon & benefits of blogging to the community

A weblog is a personal online journal that is often updated and it can be viewed by the public. Blogs generally represent the personality of the author and it is defined by their format which the series of entries are posted to a single page in reverse sequential order. According to Branum (2001), the term weblog describes a personal website which is generally chronologically organized. He mentioned that weblog represents an online intersection of people and time. On the other hand, the author of a blog is often referred as a blogger. People blog for many reasons. They may share their thoughts, ideas, promote their business, discuss, and seek for job opportunities or just for leisure.

Blogging brings a lot of benefits as it can grab the attention of many viewers because most bloggers tend to make their articles short and simple and yet interesting so that readers can read it with flow. According Kristi (2009), when there is a community, the readers will view the particular blog again, leave comments and this will inspire the blogger to blog more, share ideas with others as well as can recommend the blogger to the community. This will help to increase the population of your blog and make the number viewers grow.
